According to the new regulations considering the requirements set forth by such international citation systems as Web of Science and Scopus References should be included in English version of the article and therefore should be given not only in original language but also in Latin (in Roman characters). So the authors should give references in two variants: one in original language (Russian sources in Cyrillic characters, English sources in Latin characters), same as before, and the same References should be given as a separate block in Roman characters for Scopus and other international databases repeating all References irrespective of whether they include foreign references or not. If References include foreign publications they are fully repeated in the References being prepared in Roman characters.

The following Reference structure should be observed for Russian sources given in Roman characters: author(s) (transliteration), book or article title translated into English, name of source (transliteration), publisher’s imprint in digital format, language of the article in bracket (in Russian).

References preparation procedure using automatic transliteration system and a translation program.

One can use a free program for transliteration from Russian to Latin characters available on the website http://www.translit.ru. The program is very simple.

  • Enter the Translit.ru program. In the box «варианты» (variants) choose the transliteration system BGN (Board of Geographic Names). Input the whole text of the References into the field (except for the book or article title) in Russian and press «в транслит» (into translit) button.

  • Copy the transliterated text into the References being prepared.

  • Translate all description of the source except for authors (title of book, article, directive etc.) into English using Google Translate and transfer it into the References being prepared. The translation certainly requires edition, so this part should be prepared by a person who understands English.

  • Combine the description in Translit and the translated one and arrange them in accordance with adopted regulations. Besides, it is necessary to show the publication place (Moscow) and possibly make some corrections.

  • At the end of the References (in Russian) should be added in parenthesis. The References are ready.
